Description

Black Slate Stone Veneer sheets are thin, flexible sheets made from 100% real stone, featuring an almost black base with lines and veins of varying dark gray/black shades. True to natural stone, each stone sheet contains variations in color as well as patterns. The surface of slate veneer sheets have a slightly softer stone surface as compared to other stone veneer types, such as sandstone. Slate sheets are characterized by their rich color, changing patterns and surface structure. 

Stone Veneer sheets are made of 100% layered stone with a fiberglass backing. Each sheet is as unique as the individual slabs they come from. As such, no two sheets of material will look the same. Color differences, natural cracks or slight chipping may occur as this is a characteristic of the natural stone surface.

With a bending radius of up to 2" inches, stone veneer sheets can be used in a variety of applications, including cladding of cylindrical and rounded shapes and surface. 

Laser Cutting Stone Veneer

Stone veneers sheets are at home in any maker workshop or makerspace as they are easy to cut using a C02 laser, CNC or waterjet cutter. 

Each sheet is comprised of an approximately 0.1 - 1.4 mm thin stone layer and a carrier material made of a polyester reinforced with glass fibers to ensure the stability of the product. 

The fiberglass backing may cause skin irritation to some. With prolonged handling, we recommend wearing protective gear. When laser cutting, there may be a more distinct odor as opposed to other materials. Please ensure your laser cutter is properly ventilated. 

Applications

Stone Veneer sheets are one sided, making them an ideal material for applying to a variety of substrates, such as wood and acrylic, to wall coverings in bathrooms, kitchens and living spaces.   

Laser cut stone veneer sheets for insets and inlays, pendants, jewelry, key chains, sign components and much more. 

Recommended adhesives include spray adhesives, flex glues and most polymer based adhesives.  Ensure all surfaces are clean and free of dust and grease before application.

Tips

Slate stone veneer sheets are easy to work with and just as easy to cut using any standard wood working tool, such as a table saw or jigsaw. When cutting, place your material stone side down. We recommend using a blade with medium tooth. 

Lightly sand the cut edges as needed.

Use any standard masonry bit for drilling through material. 

For added protection and longevity in high traffic areas, exterior or moisture prone areas, apply a stone sealer with a foam roller. 

Stone veneers can be wiped clean with a lint free cloth and water, or any non-corrosive household cleaner.
